Employment Workshop: Newcomer Entrepreneurship Program

Are you a newcomer interested in starting your own business? PEIANC's Newcomer Entrepreneur Program (NEP) will begin in April. To participate you must be a permanent resident of Canada, have a business idea, and a minimum level 6 English language benchmark. 

The Newcomer Entrepreneur Program will run for nine weeks, two evenings per week. Each participant will be expected to complete a draft business plan during the course of the Program. There is a time commitment required outside of the classroom to complete take-home assignments. Instruction is delivered through lectures and group discussions.

Invited subject matter experts will present on market research, law, insurance, marketing, business financial projections, accounting, and bookkeeping.  A successful immigrant business owner will also be invited to share their story and expertise with the group. Guests will also be invited from the PEI Connectors Program, Canada Business, PEI Employment Standards Office, PEI Occupational Health and Safety office, and the Worker’s Compensation Board of PEI.

A new component of the program this year will be a presentation by a panel of funders - Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Finance PEI, Innovation PEI, Skills PEI, Business Development Bank of Canada and Credit Union. These experts will provide information on existing funding programs and services available.

Date and Time: Beginning April 4th, 2017, 5:00pm - 8:00pm, twice per week (days of the week will vary)
Place: PEIANC, 49 Water Street, Charlottetown

There is a selection process in place for entry into this program. All criteria must be met, and a commitment made by attendants to participate to their fullest ability. The NEP is limited to twelve participants. To request an application, please contact:
