PEIANC Volunteer English Tutor In-class Training

September, November, December

Posted: Wednesday 23rd August 2017 20:38

The PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada and the PEI Public Library Service partner to provide an English-as-an-Additional-Language (EAL) Volunteer Tutoring Program to help adult newcomers learn English (school aged children have access to EAL tutoring within the school system).

There are two free tutor training sessions coming up in the fall: one in September, and one in November, both being held in Charlottetown.

Volunteer tutoring is a great way to help newcomers to Canada to learn English, and for you to learn more about another culture at the same time.

To become a tutor in the PEIANC program we require:

  • references
  • a criminal record check (no cost to tutors)
  • a minimum of a grade 12 diploma
  • that the tutor sign a confidentiality form
  • that the tutor attend all of the free tutor training sessions (there are online options as well if you cannot attend in-class training)
