The PEI information publication for career planning and job seeking Employment Journey featured a story about immigrant Nasim Amiri - how he and his family built a new life in Canada with the help of PEI ANC.

Bobby Dunn (right), General Manager of City Transit, recently hired Nasim Amiri as a Mechanic after seeing him work at the business as a volunteer.

by Gloria Welton [Employment Journey, Volume 10, Number 7, September/October 2008] -- In November 2004, The PEI Association of Newcomers to Canada (PEI ANC) greeted Nasim Amiri, his wife and three children at the Charlottetown airport. This family had traveled half way around the world to a snow-covered Island in the hope that their lives would change for the better. PEI ANC has continued to help this family become familiar with PEI culture, develop friendships, and connect with employment on the Island.

Nasim and his wife Gulzada now have five children. He is settled in a full-time career as a mechanic, they have a home close to his work, they have friends in the neighbourhood, and their school age children are very happy with
their education and are doing well.
