Position: Settlement Worker
Term: 7 months
Start Date: April 3, 2018

Reporting to the Coordinator of the Settlement Team, this person is responsible for assisting temporary foreign workers and international students with settlement and integration on PEI.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting clients with applications, documentation, and paperwork related to settling in Canada and PEI;
  • Providing clients with information on housing, subsidy programs, health care system, rights and responsibilities, etc.;
  • Assisting clients with applying for Permanent Residence in Canada;
  • Assisting clients with communication with federal and provincial government agencies;
  • Making referrals to other PEIANC programs and services, as well as outside organizations as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written) skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Team player, as well as demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, and with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration laws and regulations
  • Experience working with temporary foreign workers and international students and/or in a diverse workplace

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience working with immigrants and/or in other cross-cultural circumstances
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an asset
  • Driver's licence
