What People Said about DiverseCity 2011
"What a turnout. Congrats to all that work so hard to put this event on. So much fun."
"Such a beautiful day today at DiverseCity / DiverCité 2011 ... I so needed that :) More than a great event."
"This event is getting bigger and better every year. What a full day of food, music, and just coming together to celebrate and embrace."
PEI ANC's event of the year, DiverseCity, held on June 26th this year, brought out an estimated 3500 to 4000 people who filled the street on Victoria Row, and the Confederation Centre Public Library plaza in Charlottetown.
Celebrating Canadian Multiculturalism Day, DiverseCity presented over two dozen acts on the mainstage, martial arts demonstrations in the street, multicultural crafts and games on the plaza, and cultural displays and international food on Victoria Row.
PEI ANC Executive Director, Craig Mackie, says this moment captured the day for him, "Native Gumbo was on stage with the musical fusion of Mi'kmaq drummers and the Alan Dowling jazz quartet. Out front, dancing joyfully to the ancient and modern rhythms were young people from all around the world."
Volunteers, most of them newcomers to PEI, worked tirelessly all day. PEI ANC motto was made real -- Bringing People and Communities Together!
