The Welcome Project
Last updated: 2016-05-10
Since November 2015, the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada has settled over 200 Syrian refugees across PEI. All refugees (government or privately sponsored) on PEI receive the support and services of the PEI ANC, including settlement, language, education, employment, and integration programs offered.
Thanks to the generosity of Prince Edward Islanders, The Welcome Project has over 300 volunteers. You can still be part of the Island’s welcome by reaching out and engaging with all newcomers in your community.
Donations of Goods
Since the beginning of December 2015, The Welcome Project has successfully operated a Donation Centre at 1 Queen Street to collect donations for Syrian refugee families settling across PEI.
Saturday, April 2nd was the last regular Saturday drop-off at the Donation Centre. However, Islanders may still pass along donations to support refugees by calling 902-628-6009 ext. 232 to inquire about the need for your items and to arrange a drop off time.
